Coyne.jpg

John Coyne III

Member,

Board of Directors

Mr. Coyne is a native of Wyoming, being born and raised in Greybull, and having the privilege of being a community banker in the town that helped raise him. He currently serves as the chairman, chief executive officer and president of Big Horn Federal Savings Bank.

Mr. Coyne started his career with a regional in Cheyenne Wyoming in 1998. During his final year of college he commuted back and forth between work in Cheyenne and school in Laramie. Mr. Coyne held multiple titles with this first employer until ultimately serving as a market president in Gillette Wyoming, prior to returning home in 2008. His return home came with a chief credit officer title with Big Horn Federal Savings Bank in Greybull Wyoming. Two short years later, in 2010, he was named chief executive officer and president of Big Horn Federal Savings Bank and one year later earned the Chairman of the Board title.

He previously served on the Board of Directors for the United Way Chapters in both Cheyenne and Gillette for over 8 years, and this experience created a great drive to invest his time, knowledge and resources in youth through outlets like Big Horn Federal and the local Elks Club.

Mr. Coyne previously served as an officer of the Greybull Volunteer Fire Department. He also served as a high school basketball official with 15 years of service to a sport he loved. He was fortunate to be an 8-time state tournament official and 12-year regional tournament official. Mr. Coyne also has a unique relationship with the University of Wyoming, as he has been invited multiple times over the last 25 years to speak about his experiences in banking to prospective students. Mr. Coyne is an advocate of the slogan, the state needs more cowboys.

Mr. Coyne has historically served as a director and chairman for the Wyoming Bankers Association and had the privilege to serve on the Office of Comptroller of the Currency’s Mutual Savings Association Advisory Committee working directly with key staff and the head of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.  More locally he is entering his tenth year on the Gottsche Rehabilitation Center’s Board of Trustees, a non-profit helping with injury and medical rehab in the Greater Big Horn Basin. Mr. Coyne was also appointed twice by the Governor of Wyoming and confirmed through the Wyoming Legislature to serve as a director for both the Wyoming Business Council and the Wyoming Banking Board.  John currently sits as a legal director for Federal Reserve in Kansas City and represents the 10th District within the greater Federal Reserve system.

None of this possible without the love and support of his wife and children.
